Carp Team England have announced their squad for the first-ever women’s tri-nations match.
England, Wales and the Netherlands will face off at Wraysbury between June 22 and 25 in what is set to become an annual event with a rotation of host venues.
England manager Rob Hughes said: “We’re proud to be hosting the inaugural women’s international in England and expect a good performance. The venue is in great form and there should be a decent number of fish caught.”
The match, backed by Fosters of Birmingham, will run for 72 hours and four pairs of anglers will compete for each nation in sections under international rules.
It is hoped France and Italy will field women’s teams on the international stage in the near future and that the tournament will eventually become a fully ratified FIPS championship.
