Paul Curwen beat his personal best for the second time in a fortnight when he landed the sought-after Moonscale from Clearwater Fisheries.
The impressive mirror, which weighed a spawned-out 46lb 4oz, came during a 48-hour session at the Lancashire, venue and was tempted from a small 7ft-deep gravel area surrounded by deeper water between two weedbeds at 60yds.
Paul used a hookbait made from a Sticky Manilla dumbell boilie and half a pineapple pop-up, which he offered on the ‘Elliott Gray’ line aligner rig comprising 7ins of 20lb semi-stiff coated braid, and an inch-long line aligner to a size 4 Thinking Anglers Curve Point hook.
He fed his spot with around 2kg of 12mm Manilla boilies and sweetcorn.
He said: “It was a new pb for me, beating a common I had two weeks previously at 40lb 8oz. I got a good bucket soaking for my troubles!”
Thanks go to Ben Hesketh for taking the photos of Paul’s catch.
