It was a Christmas to remember for a number of anglers at a popular Oxfordshire day-ticket lake as carp to over 30lb fed all through the festive period.
Orchid Lake in Dorchester-on-Thames welcomed four hardy anglers on Christmas Day itself, and Kevin Righton managed a December 25 carp of 23lb from the Dead Dog swim.
The 57-year-old, who dressed up as Father Christmas for the catch pic, also bagged a 29lb 12oz mirror on Boxing Day.
He told Carpfeed: "I have only fished Christmas Day once before many years ago when I had five fish, three of them 20s.
"It felt great to catch a 20 on Christmas Day especially out of a cracking lake like Orchid. It was such a buzz!"
Kevin fished KD rigs with UK Bait Company Pro Evolution boilies in a snowman formation (it is Christmas, after all!), surrounded by 10 free offerings.
In the same swim on Christmas Eve, local angler Jack Crook caught a trio of fish topped by a 27lb mirror.
He told Carpfeed: "I did my first night in the New Middles swim but decided to move into Dead Dog for my last night after a guy in Alamo [which is opposite] caught a fish.
"At around 12.30am on Christmas Eve I caught my first fish which was a 27lb mirror. I then had a 20lb mirror at around 11 am and then 20 minutes later the same rod was away again with a 20lb 3oz mirror.
"After that I moved another rod to that area and that one was away within 15 minutes but unfortunately I lost that fish."
Jack used solid PVA bags of boilie crumb and single plastic-corn hookbaits.
The venue's good form continued into yesterday [December 27] as Danny Speight managed a brace of 30s from the RH Snag swim.
Danny caught JD at 30lb 12oz and Dumb and Dumber at 31lb 10oz.
