Carp Wars star Steven Coe ditched the zigs and piled in the bait to land this 41lb 14oz mirror at Linear Fisheries.
The Warwickshire angler, who appeared on the Sky Sports show last year, landed the new pb during a social session on Brasenose One at the Oxfordshire day-ticket site.
Steven said: “I set up in a peg that gave me a lot of water in the middle of the lake and spent the first 36 hours working the zigs but to no avail.
“A tactical change was in order, so I decided to put a full bucket of bait out. The mix was made up of 70 per cent sweetcorn, 20 per cent hemp and then 10 per cent Complex-T dumbbells.
“I also put loads of sweet pineapple liquid and sweet tiger nut liquid into the mix, as I am a big believer in liquids.”
Steven fished at 132yds and decided to spod at dusk once the wind had dropped to keep his baiting accurate.
“Within an hour I had a bite,” said the teenager. “Unfortunately, I lost that one after it picked up the other line closer in. I had another chance at first light, and landed a lovely 26lb mirror.
“The next night I repeated the process by putting another load of bait out just as it got dark.
“I had a bite at around 9pm and after a 30-minute fight I landed what looked to be a huge fish. It went on to be a personal best at 41lb 14oz!”
Steven fished Dynamite Complex-T dumbbell wafters, which go on sale in the spring.
