One of the biggest day-ticket mirrors around has been banked at a hefty 55lb 8oz.
Wayne Scott visited Bluebell Lakes in Northamptonshire for the first time and caught Dave from Swan Lake after going against perceived wisdom at the popular complex.
The famous mirror came after a change of lakes for the driving instructor from Morley, Leeds.
Speaking to Carpfeed, Wayne said: “I decided to spend a week at Bluebell Lakes after it was recommended by a friend.
“I'd not fished it before but spoke to a few people and was told to avoid Swan as it was fishing poorly, so I dropped into an unfancied corner peg on Kingfisher.
“After two nights of no action I decided to go against advice and move to an almost empty Swan.
“After several laps of the lake with no sign of any fish I decided, with the high pressure, to head for the shallow end.
“I put in a good helping of boilies and mixed particle at 70yds and fished all three rods tight on the spot with my trusted multi rig, willing to sit on it for a few days.
“Two hours later the middle rod melted off and I knew when I lifted into it that it was a big fish from the slow, ponderous head nods.
“After 10 minutes I had him under control and realised it was Dave having seen a few pics.”
The fish broke Wayne’s previous pb of 35lb.
