A charity match organised by top carper Kev Hewitt on a popular day-ticket venue is set to raise thousands of pounds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Almost 40 anglers have signed up for a sell-out weekend contest on Mallard Lake at Northamptonshire’s Bluebell Lakes, but visitors are still welcome to come along for a barbecue and raffle.
The event begins on Friday, November 1, and runs through until Sunday afternoon. Guests can attend between noon and 4pm on Saturday, November 2, and take advantage of a bar and hot food.
Kev, who is organising the event alongside Bluebell regular Lee Birch and bailiff Trev Cooke, told Carpfeed: ”I’m sure it will be a great weekend and lots of money will be raised for a charity close to everyone’s hearts.
“So far I have raised nearly £4,000 and have a target of £5,000.
“The match is full but we have a mega raffle with some amazing prizes.”
Tickets for the raffle will be on sale on the day but can currently be bought from the on-site tackle shop and the Angling Direct branches in Peterborough and Swindon, where Kev is manager.
Tickets can also be bought online by donating to the event’s JustGiving page.
Prizes include big bait and tackle bundles, a carping holiday in France for two, a syndicate membership and much more.
Tickets cost £2 and the draw will be made on the Saturday of the match.
