One of the country’s most sought-after day-ticket carp has been landed as part of a 20-fish hit.
The Big Plated was caught by Neil Bunce during a five day session on St John’s at the Oxfordshire Linear Fisheries complex at a weight of 42lb 12oz.
The South Cerney-based 47-year-old started the session fishing along the tree line of a shallow bay but switched to a different spot when this failed to produce any bites.
“I found a tiny clear spot at 10 wraps which ended up producing of all bar one of my fish, including a new pb of 27lb 8oz for my 12-year-old son,” said Neil.
“I had dreamed of catching the Big Plated for years and I was stunned to see it coming over my net. The fish was in stunning condition and gave a great account of itself during the fight. At one point it had managed to get three swims down the margin!” he added.
All of Neil’s fish were caught on a trimmed-down Sticky Peach and Pepper pop-up fished on a Ronnie Rig over a bed of chopped Sticky Krill boilies and mixed particles.
