A lake owner has become the first to offer a syndicate ticket with venues in England AND France.
The Carpers Paradise ticket will begin in December and offer access to two lakes in Essex and one two hours from Calais.
Boss Mitch Whitehall told Carpfeed: “When I took the French venue on I thought of running it as a holiday venue, but as it’s so close to Calais I was going out there backwards and forwards.
“For me, when you’re there it doesn’t feel like you’re in France – it feels like an English lake as it’s so mature and overgrown.
“I just thought ‘no one has done this before, why don’t I put all three lakes on the same ticket?’.
“It’s not about the money, it’s more the simplicity. I’ll always know who’s going over there. With 75 members paying a grand it’ll cover my leases and a wage for me.”
Deposits were opened on July 1 and so far 25 members have paid up, with many more expressing an interest.
The French lake, which has 10 swims in 12 acres, will be run on a booking system whereby members can only book sessions a month in advance to avoid ticket holders booking out large chunks of the year.
Mitch’s domestic lakes, Willow Tree and Clear Water, are located in Brentwood and contain fish to over 40lb.
The French venue, Etang de Poussiere, contains 260 carp to 66lb and catfish to 150lb.
Mitch told Carpfeed he has had interest from Essex carpers and those much further afield who make regular trips across the Channel.
“It’ll be interesting to see how it works out,” said Mitch, “I’m looking for feedback and we’ll see what happens in the first year.”
