A brace of fish for more than 87lb is just part of Darren Willeatts’ incredible debut season on Horton Church Lake.
Darren has banked 21 fish from the famous Berkshire venue since late April, including five 40s, 10 30s and a 50.
He caught Fingers at 50lb 2oz just moments after banking a 37lb 4oz fish in a trip he described as an “unbelievable session”.
“My aim for the year was to better my pb, which was 43lb 8oz,” Darren told Carpfeed.
“So far, all was going well. I have been consistently catching by concentrating on an area at one end of the lake where I had been regularly introducing bait.”
His amazing three-night session began with a brace of 20s, before he caught two fish for 87lb 6oz on the second morning.
“I was completely blown away. I had a fish of 37lb 4oz in one net and a new pb in the shape of a fish called Fingers at 50lb 2oz in the other – I was floating on Cloud Nine.”
The following morning saw Darren bank 25lb and 28lb fish, before the session was rounded off with a 43lb 8oz mirror.
Not content with that, he returned this weekend and caught Alfie at 43lb 12oz.
Darren has been baiting with mixed sizes of Mainline Cell boilies with matching hookbaits on hinged stiff rigs.
