This powerful Norfolk common charged through another angler’s lines but eventually succumbed to Scot Crook’s net.
The 45lb 2oz specimen gave the Thetford angler a new personal best at a local syndicate venue.
The 43-year-old arrived at 6pm on Friday evening for a two-night session and got the take late on his first day.
“I was fishing to a hard spot at 10 yards’ range,” Scot said. “It was a short, sharp bite taking 2ft of line then stopping when I pulled into the fish.
“It did not really do much to start with, I don’t think it realise it was hooked, but when it woke up to the fact it near on flat-rodded me and went into the swim next door, picking up a friend’s rod on the way through.
“Luckily my friend clocked what was going on and opened his bail arm, and with a bit of grating of the line through some bushes I manged to get the fish back into my swim and in the net.”
The fish impressive common proved to be the only one of the session for the multi-drop driver.
