The Thames just keeps on giving this year, with this incredible 41lb 14oz common from a tidal stretch the latest in a line of big carp.

Mikey Frost adopted a classic ‘little and often’ baiting approach as he battled the turbulent conditions to land this beast from a spot he fishes regularly.

The keen Thames carper said: “It was caught on a spot which I regularly fish, on a blowback-style rig with an 18mm Dynamite Crave boilie topped off with a 10mm pink pop-up over about three quarters of kilo of whole and chopped bait.

“I was feeding around 20 to 30 baits every 15 minutes or so to make sure I kept some grub down on the spot, as the tidal Thames gets quite a lot of wash throughout the high tide.”

The fish was caught the week before Nick Helleur’s amazing Thames record 50-pounder, and in the wake of Ash Geden’s incredible summer on the river.
