The first of three supermoons in the next two months produced this 41lb 2oz mirror for Hadley Ever.
The phenomenon, in which the moon appears larger than normal, occurs when its elliptical orbit places it nearest the earth.
The first of three supermoons in relatively quick succession took place on Sunday [December 3] and Hadley Ever was on the spot at a southern syndicate venue.
The next two supermoons occur on New Year’s Day and January 31.
Said Hadley: “It was a cold night but I felt confident with this notorious bright moon gleaming down onto the surface.
“I was fishing a simple pop-up presentation towards one of the remaining weedbeds quite simply because they still hold some heat.
“Not long into the session, the rod rattled off and after a good scrap I slipped the net under the Slats Grey at 41lb 2oz!”
