A small clearing in a ‘mega weedy’ swim produced this bruising Yorkshire 40 for Colin Leach.
The very lightly scaled mirror came at 6am after a fast take at renowned northern big-fish water Eric’s Willows Lake near Leeds.
“I first saw two fish roll over the spot,” said Colin, “and instantly I chucked all three rods out to them.
“I sat on my hands for a couple of hours, but me being me I got impatient and I had a reel in and a lead about to find it was literally the only decent spot to present my hookbait on in the swim I was in – it was mega weedy!
“So I got them back on the spots with a small bed of 15mm boilies and, boom, at 6am I got a one-toner and I leant into this beauty.
“It was a very near leather with a tiny scale fleck at the bottom of its flank. I’m buzzing and it smashed my personal best.”
Colin baited with CC Moore Pacific Tuna boilies and presented a CC Moore Acid Pear pop-up over the top on very short hinged stiff rigs.
