He told Carpfeed: "After a long wait it finally all came good.

"After steadily baiting two areas on the main river with corn, hemp and a couple of kilos of glugged 12mm-15mm Nash Strawberry Crush boilies, and with some slightly warmer weather on the way, I decided I'd do a couple of nights between work.

"I fished Monday night without a bite but left some more bait on Tuesday morning ahead of my session on Wednesday night when we were due some better weather.

"I arrived at the spot by boat at around 3pm on the Wednesday, just prior to it getting dark.

"Three multi rigs were sent out over the spot - two on pink Citruz 15mm pop-ups and one on a yellow pineapple.

"At 6am on Thursday morning I awoke to a savage screamer on the alarm. After a dogged battle I managed my best fish of the season so far - 31lb 8oz of hard-fighting River Thames warrior!"
