Step-by-step guide to tying a figure-of-eight loop knot
When you want your swivel connections to have some freedom of movement, this easy loop knot is a quick and strong solution.
1) Double up your piece of line. If you're wishing to place a swivel inside the finished loop then make sure the line is doubled up around it.
2) With the doubled-up length of line start to creat a simple overhand ('granny') knot.
3) The photo that shows you how the knot gets its name. Unlike a 'granny' knot, you go around the back of the mainline and creat a 'figure of eight'. The swivel is hidden behind the right-hand thumb here.
4) Moisten the knot and tighten it down before trimming the tag end.
